This volume contains two of the greatest Sherlock Holmes novels penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, together with six of his other shorter classic tales. The Red-Headed League, Doyle's second most favorite Holmes story, was published in August 1891. The Five Orange Pips, one of only two short stories where Holmes' client dies, was published in November 1891. The Man with the Twisted Lip, Doyle's sixteenth favorite Holmes story, was published in December 1891. The Blue Carbuncle, a near priceless gem, was published in January 1892. Silver Blaze, containing the phrase 'the curious incident of the dog in the night-time', is about a racehorse and was published in February 1892.
